EMERALD ASH BORER

Emerald Ash Borer was first discovered in Boulder, in September 2013. EAB only attacks ash trees in the genus Fraxinus (mountain ash are not susceptible). EAB is responsible for the death of millions of ash trees in the United States but have not yet been located in Columbine Valley.

Mosquitos, however, are a problem. The Columbine Valley Mosquito Control Program is one of the few Integrated Mosquito Management programs in the south metro region.  Weekly larval site inspections, weekly surveillance traps used to collect, count and speciate adult mosquitoes, and as-needed truck fogging are performed to control adult mosquito activity.
