Pruning

The turf, shrubbery and trees in Greenwood Village’s parks are meticulously maintained by the village maintenance crews.

Pruning helps groom and shape a tree so that it establishes one main tree with a dominant leader. The goal is to prune to achieve a strong tree that's ultimately able to withstand winter storms and high winds. Pruning is intended to let light and air filter through the tree canopy increasing foliage while decreasing the risk of disease. At ground level, suckers and water sprouts weaken wood and steal nutrients and must also be pruned.
