Emerald Ash Borer

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an exotic green beetle first discovered in the USA in southeastern Michigan in 2002. Eleven years later, the Emerald Ash Borer was found in two trees in the northeast section of Boulder. The adult beetles nibble on ash foliage but it’s the larvae that feed on the inner bark causing significant damage.

The Greenwood Village groundskeepers closely monitor the 2,000 ash trees within the Village public spaces. Going forward, the Greenwood Village forestry division is not planting ash trees. To prevent the spread of disease, Greenwood Village officials recommend do not move firewood. Use it where you purchase it because insects and disease are transported into new regions when firewood is moved.
