Stump Grinding
Stump grinding is the most common method of removing an unwanted stump and surface roots on your property.
Stump grinding is the process of using a machine to grind down a tree stump until it is level with the ground. The stump grinder has a rotating head with a series of teeth that grind away at the stump.
There are several reasons why you might want to stump grind a tree stump.
• To remove an unsightly stump. Tree stumps can be unsightly and can even devalue your property. Stump grinding is a quick and easy way to remove a tree stump and make your property look its best.
• To create a level surface. If you want to build a patio, deck, or other structure on the site of a tree stump, you will need to remove the stump first. Stump grinding is a great way to create a level surface for your new project.
• To prevent the stump from resprouting. If you leave a tree stump in the ground, it may resprout and become a new tree. Stump grinding will prevent the stump from resprouting and keep your yard looking neat and tidy.
Stump grinding is a relatively easy process, but it is important to hire a professional arborist, like Donovan Arborists, to do the job. Arborists have the experience and the specialized equipment to safely and effectively grind tree stumps.
Donovan Arborists grinds to a depth of 8-10 inches below ground level. This process produces a wood chip and soil mixture that is great to use as compost. If you do not want the compost, we can rake the area level and haul away the excess debris.
If you are planning on planting another tree or turf in the same area, we recommend having us clean the stump hole of the wood chip and soil mixture and backfilling with top soil. New plants have a difficult time getting established in the compost mixture.
